New Fordley Juniors and the Annitsford Community
New Fordley Juniors is already at the heart of the community of Annitsford and surrounding areas, but our goal now is to work with the community to improve health and wellness for all ages.
Things we've done so far include:
- starting our Walking Football team for the over 50s, which we launched with the support of Age UK North Tyneside
- holding summer camps for children during school holidays, which include free spaces for those on school meals or low income
- during summer 2024 we took part in North Tyneside's Ease Into Summer which allowed us to arrange surfing lessons for a group of our local kids
- we hosted a big party for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022, which was a fantastic day out for the whole family
- in 2023 we ran a Family Funday which raised hundreds of pounds for prostate cancer
- and every Christmas Santa comes to visit us at The Hut!
We now want to strengthen that involvement and have plans for activities such as
- drop in sessions for benefits advice
- coffee mornings
- knit and natter sessions
- or anything that anyone in the local community would like to use our Hut or playing fields for. We're always open to ideas.
Volunteering with New Fordley Juniors
We also have an adult volunteers group which meets monthly. The group includes a representative from each team – usually parents or grandparents. They meet to discuss ongoing activities, events and fundraising. They're also key in relaying information down to the teams about things like raffles, low key fundraising or requests for volunteers.
Call Anthea on 07985 300419 or email newfordleyjuniors@hotmail.com if you'd like to join our volunteer team.
Fundraiser & Volunteers Group
We ask that each team has a representative on this group, this is so we can support the communication across the club. It is important for teams to be involved in their own team fundraising to support the club and individual team building activities. This group supports the social activities that happen within 'The Hut' (Clubhouse) as well as joint fundraising activities such as bag packs, tombolas and festivals.
